Taxonomic Notes:
Schwartz (1937) used the name semiticus as a subspecies of the extant alcelaphine Connochaetes taurinus because of the skull's distortion. Gentry and Gentry (1978) do not agree, but offer no alternate taxon. Gentry and Gentry (1995) state that Ruingoryx can be taken as a junior subjective synonym of Rhynotragus.
