This specimen was housed in Munich but destroyed in WWII. Its horizon is unknown but it is depicted in an illustration in Schwarz (1937). There is confusion as to whether this specimen may be numbered VII-468 (Gentry and Gentry, 1978a) which is written on the plate, but which represent a lower jaw based on Schwarz's list of specimens. |

Leakey LSB. 1965. Olduvai Gorge 1951-1961, Volume 1: Fauna and Background. New York, NY: Cambridge University Press. |
This specimen was incorrectly stated by Leakey (1965) that its museum number is M. 21452 but this was corrected by Gentry and Gentry (1978a). It is pictured in Leakey (1965) plate 52 (lower) and in Gentry and Gentry (1978a) plate 16, figure 3. |

Reck H. 1937. Wissenschaftliche Ergebnisse der Oldoway-Expedition 1913. Berlin: D. Reimer. |
Frontals with both horn cores. Holotype. Reck Field No.: VI 306. Holotype. Note that VI 306 was given as a field number for both the Thaleroceros specimen 1931 II 101 and the horn core that attaches to the skull of Megalotragus 1931 II 666. Strange because this may be the only case of a duplicated field number. |
